story-share –> TASMANIA’S gastronomy will be spiced with a new food festival combining the modest sausage meat known as devon and fortified wine port if a political candidate has her way. The tourism idea of Devonport woman Carolynn Jamieson follows a recent commitment by Premier David Bartlett to establish Tasmania as a destination for culinary excellence. Ms Jamieson is campaigning to replace her mother Norma Jamieson at an election on May 2 for the upper-house seat of Mersey incorporating Devonport. "I’ve got a stack of tourism ideas but I can’t talk about some because once the idea is out there somebody else in Australia could do it before we are ready" she said. "But the devon and port one is one that you can’t do unless you live in Devonport.
