The awards aim to discover tourism operators offering quality service who remain relatively unknown and poised for growth. M4Tourism’s Jane Hammond Foster said: “Tourism is all about destinations and RiverFly’s Daniel Hackett has harnessed the relatively unknown region of Tasmania’s northern riverlands to create a very real adventure travel experience. ” “Australia’s domestic and inbound holiday-makers deserve to know about this ‘hidden jewel’. ” “Just when you think you know what’s out there on offer in Australian tourism along comes the quality of these winners which really highlights the depth we have in tourist operations in this country” said John Walsh Awards judge and executive producer of Channel Nine’s Getaway.

“The horse’s owner-breeder Leigh Davis had a property in western NSW called Studleigh and is a dairy farmer thus the milkshake part of the name” Sales said. “Leigh (Davis) moved to a smaller property so he decided to sell all of his horses that were older than two and this one had just turned four. ‘”When we got him to Tasmania he did well by winning at his third start at Devonport but then he did a leg in (injury) and we had to call on Alistair McLean (interstate veterinarian) but thankfully the operation was a great success” he said. Trainer Michael Castles predicted a bright future for Studleighmilkshake after the gelding’s first win and his opinion of the horse hasn’t faltered. “Michael (Castles) has been telling me for months how good this horse is but I haven’t really believed him until now” Sales said. Studleighmilkshake had only three starts for his original owner with a second on debut at Parkes in February 2006 his best result. He didn’t race for a year and made his Tasmanian debut at Devonport in February last year and he saluted at his third Tasmanian outing at Devonport but soon after he suffered the leg injury… “Michael (Castles) has been telling me for months how good this horse is but I haven’t really believed him until now” Sales said. He resumed racing in December and gave his connections a belated Christmas present by winning impressively on his home track at Devonport on Boxing Day. “The horse seems to be getting better with racing so the future looks promising” Sales said. Studleighmilkshake is likely to have his next start in Hobart this Sunday night.

But Lynch says the 25-year-old was not interested. “Ben had no interest in leaving Tassie obviously he’s played all his cricket down there” Lynch said. “He’s very much a Tasmanian and he’s enjoying the culture that Tasmania’s created over the last few years with the success in the competitions.
