In ctober 2007 the above-mentioned states and territories agreed to harmonize and extend their daylight saving start and end dates. From this year on daylight saving will end a week later than usual on the first Sunday in April and recommence on the first Sunday in ctober three weeks earlier than before. It applies in all states except Tasmania. The extension of daylight saving means that some computer products will not display the correct time in the period between the old and new start and end dates. Businesses can easily update their computers by logging onto the Microsoft Web site www.

Tas Premier holding Rudd to promises at CAG

Mr Lennon says he will be calling on the Federal Government to honour its pre-election promises. The Premier says the promises include 52 extra acute care beds for Tasmania’s public hospitals and the establishment of GP super clinics. He says he also wants to ensure Tasmania gets a fairer share of any potential new health-care funding arrangements. Mr Lennon’s Health Minister Lara Giddings has expressed her support for a national register of doctors depite criticism from medical groups. “The state government has been fully behind the national registration scheme in fact look forward to CAG signing off on this” she said. In a statement issued last night Mr Lennon also said he whole-heartedly supported the Government’s housing policies including cheaper rentals and more help for the homeless. Wine Industry Tasmania is expecting a yield of more than 8000 tonnes more than 1000 tonnes than the previous record set in 2004.
