ldina hosted a leg of Rally Tasmania last weekend despite 30 residents signing a petition claiming it was unsafe and would breach their civil rights. ne resident Maggie Boyd says competitors broke the speed limit on open roads to get between stages and she couldn’t leave her house to attend to stock. She’s planning ways to stop future local stages including Targa Tasmania. “Well I intend to start lobbying the local councillors as well as the state and federal members one in setting down an interpretation of what is a public function versus the constitutional rights of local residents up there in them being inconvenienced. “Now that we know what they’re intentions are – to hold more of these events – we are now going to start the ball rolling to stop them” Ms Boyd said.
