ne hundred and six claimants will share a £2. 2m fund for indigenous children who were forcibly taken from their parents. “No amount of money can make up for Aboriginal children being removed from their families simply on the basis of race” the Tasmanian premier Paul Lennon said in the capital Hobart.

Geappen set to be stripped of Tasmanian Devils co-captaincy

The ABC understands Devils officials have been unhappy with Geappen’s off-field behaviour and commitment to pre-season training. Geappen was allegedly involved in a fight with another Devils player. But Tasmania’s coach Daryn Creswell says no decision has been made about the captaincy”We haven’t made any decisions on who’s going to captain the Devils next season” said Cresswell. “We expect to do that over the next two or three weeks.

” January is the month to get a taste of what this magnificent instrument can produce. Last November following months of fundraising 476 new pipes were installed and to celebrate Gaylene has put together a Summer Program of recitals by organists from Tasmania and beyond. “It’s a great opportunity to listen to different organists from all over Tasmania and even Melbourne and to hear the new pipes!”All money raised from the recitals will help pay for ongoing repairs and maintenance. “Its just so old” says Gaylene “there are little things going wrong all the time. The organ tuners come over from Melbourne four times a year – they actually do all of Tasmania in a week or two before flying back. Sunday was the fourth recital in the series and the guest organist was Peter Schultz a veteran pipe organist who has played in numerous churches around Tasmania including Holy Trinity and the Pilgrim Uniting Church. The program included pieces by J S Bach Georg Boehm Paul Manz and Robert Ampt.

Partisan’s full-brother Sir Reilly won 32 races in Tasmania and Victoria for stakes of $226743.
