AARN MACKRILL CYSTIC FIBRSIS ADVCATE: Having a cough all the time um you know kids wondering why I take so many tablets. You want to fit in… And Catholic politicians who vote for this legislation must realise that their voting has consequences for their place in the life of the church. MRRIS IEMMA NSW PREMIER: Coming from a Catholic background I understand those reasons and are somewhat sympathetic to them myself but after long and searching thought I am convinced this is no time to stand in the way of science. AIRLIE WARD: The Catholic church in Tasmania made a submission oppose the research to the review of the State legislation and is expected to make further legislations to parliamentarians before it’s debated. As it was at the Federal level it will be a conscience vote in Tasmania. WILL HDGMAN LIBERAL LEADER: It is entirely appropriate in the circumstances. We’ve discussed it at a party level. Cousins plans subdivision in remote southern Tas
ABC nline – ABC nline – Aug 24, 2007
Mr Cousins who has become a high-profile opponent of the approval process for the pulp mill in northern Tasmania is due to attend mediation talks in the Resource Management and Planning and Appeal Tribunal next month about the subdivision proposal. Mr Cousins owns a property next door to Dick Smith’s planned eco-tourism lodge at Crescent Bay on the Tasman Peninsula. Both businessmen put in development applications to the Tasman Council on the same day and they plan to share an access road. While the council approved Mr Cousins’ plans for a subdivision documents lodged with the Planning Appeals Tribunal show local conservationists are unhappy. They say areas set aside for buildings are too close to fragile sand dunes and a track allowing access to Crescent Bay passes through a highly fragile area.
