Forestry Tasmania’s manager of field services Graham Sargison says the trees were discovered when a number of other trees were being re-measured to ensure the accuracy of records. He says the measurements of the four trees have been confirmed by an international giant trees expert. Mr Sargison says Forestry Tasmania is consulting on naming some of the trees and that none of the 82 protected ‘giant’ trees were killed or damaged in regeneration burns during the autumn.
